Business Education Scholarship $1000

This will be awarded to a person who is not eligible for the state lottery scholarship because they are not a recent high school graduate.  To be eligible, you must be planning to attend a school or college of higher education (college, trade school, etc.) and must be planning to own or operate a business after graduation.  Those interested will be asked to write a paper explaining their plans for their career after graduation and why they feel they should receive the scholarship.  The candidates will be interviewed and selected by a committee.

Jr. Achievement BizTown Scholarship $1000

KBA will help sponsor the 5th graders at Karns Elementary School to participate in the JA BizTown.  This educational program teaches students the value of free enterprise, what it is like to own a business, manage employees, be responsible for financial decisions, etc.  It is a hands-on experience with running a city for a day.

Beautification Project $500

Maintenance for the current KBA garden site.

2008 - contract for $650 a quarter approved by 2007 KBA President Roger Kane.  2009 contract will be renegotiated in December of 2007

Christmas Parade $500

Provide funds for float awards and miscellaneous expenses incurred by the parade.

Trash Pick up $150

Matching funds ($150) will be available for community organizations who work to pick up the trash along the 2-mile KBA adopted Oak Ridge Hwy section.  This will be paid twice a year (spring and fall), $75.00 per mile.

Business Person of the Year $100 + $50 plaque

Annually, a business person of the year will be selected by a committee.  The winner will be given a nice plaque and a gift certificate for $100.  The person selected will be asked to be the grand Marshall in the Karns Fair Parade.

Man and Woman of the Year $100 each + Plaque

Annually, a man and a woman of the year will be nominated by piers, and chosen by a committee.  The winners will be asked to be our Grand Marshalls during our Christmas Parade and be present for our Annual Holiday Dinner.  Each winner will receive a gift certificate valued at $100 and a nice plaque.
